Welcome to the Oakland CUSD #5 website. I hope that you are able to use our site to obtain the information you need and answer the questions you have. If at any time you are unable to find the information you are looking for, please call the district and we would be happy to assist you.

As Superintendent of Oakland CUSD #5, it is my goal to prepare all of our students for not only the immediate future, but also for their years beyond K-12 schooling. I hope that our students develop a life-long passion for learning. I want all of our students, Kindergarten – 12th grade to enjoy coming to school and understand the importance and value of an education.

I grew up in a small town myself; Villa Grove. I see a lot of similarities between the community I grew up in and the communities that makeup our district. Our school district is very fortunate to have the support of the communities as a whole as well as businesses and individuals within those communities. Educating our children is a shared responsibility that we must all take on together to work for a common cause.

As a parent of two, now adult, daughters myself (Lyndsey and Jordan ), I understand that we have a responsibility to look out for our children and raise them to the best of our abilities. In today’s society, that is getting harder and harder to do alone. Although the school is not trying to be a substitute for the parent in raising the child, we are here as a part of the support system.

It is my goal to offer the students of the district an educational experience that prepares them for the future. In order to do that, we are continuously evaluating our curriculum and methods of instruction. Technology is becoming more and more a part of the regular curriculum. We are pleased to announce that both Lake Crest and the High School have wi-fi capability. This offers our teachers another method to connect with our students. It also helps our students to prepare for the digital world we now live in.

I am very excited about the direction Oakland CUSD #5 is heading in. I hope we can continue to meet the expectations of those that live in the district. Please feel free to contact me, lance.landeck@oakland5.org,or one of the other administrators if you ever have any questions or concerns.
