Greetings Titan families and fans!
As the Principal of Lake Crest Elementary and Oakland High School, let me be the first to welcome you to our district. The Fall semester has flown by and we are ready to start the Spring semester on January 3rd.
The faculty and staff are prepared and ready to do whatever it takes to build the academic and social emotional skills of our students each and every day. Our goal is to build relationships with each individual student so we can tailor an education for them that will prepare them for the next year and the next step in their lives no matter what age or stage of life they are in. We want our Oakland graduates to have goals set and plans made that will lead them to a happy and successful life as adults in our society whether that involves college, trade school, or a direct path to the work force.
We are using assessments to find out our students' strengths and needs and using them to plan instruction that will help them grow. For those students who need extra time to build their skills, we will be offering an after school program this Spring on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:00pm by invitation and appointments.
Our MTSS (Multi Tiered Systems of Support) program is in the preliminary stages of organization. We have a dedicated team being trained and they are already identifying students who have extraordinary needs that require extra academic, emotional, or social support. Our faculty and staff are ready to provide that support.
The Oakland community is an integral part of our school success and we are always thankful for the outpouring of support we receive whenever we have needs. Every child in our district has different levels of support at home. Thanks to our local businesses and organizations, we are often blessed to be able to provide items and support for families in need.
Having Families involved is Key to the Success of the Education we offer here in Oakland!
If you need to reach me about any good news or concerns, I'm available in the Lake Crest Office.
6th - 8th Grade Families:
Do your students have great ideas for school improvement?? Have them share them with their Flex Teacher and start a discussion!
A Bit about Me:
I'm married to a wonderful guy and have 3 kids, two in college and one in 8th grade. My home is in Newton, but I stay in Oakland throughout the week so I can be close to the school for the many great activities I attend.
I've been in Education since 1996 as a Math and Science teacher. In December of 2020, I graduated from EIU with my Master's in Leadership and I started this new adventure as an administrator here at Oakland CUSD 5 in 2021.
I am thrilled to return for my 2nd year here as K-12 Principal in this great little community.
