Maddie Hammel

Hi everyone!

I teach high school agricultural science classes, am the FFA advisor, and am a sponsor for the class of 2025. This is my third year teaching and third year with Oakland CUSD #5. I have a passion for agricultural education and nothing makes me happier than students learning how agriculture is a part of their lives each day.

I received my Associate in Science from Wabash Valley College. I then transferred to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign to earn my bachelor’s Agricultural Leadership Education. I stayed at UIUC as a teaching assistant and graduated with my master's degree in Agricultural Education in 2020.

This school year I will be teaching:

  • BSAA- Plants/Animals
  • Natural Resources/Landscape Design
  • Agricultural Mechanics and Construction
  • 6th Grade
  • Basic Agricultural Science
  • Environmental Science
  • Intro to Ag

When I am not teaching I am usually hanging out with my dog Joy, spending time with friends and family, reading, or listening to podcasts/audiobooks/music. I love house plants, coffee, traveling, and being outside. I look forward to working with students each day and learning alongside them.
