Student Council

The Student Council performs many services for the student body and works for close cooperation between the students, faculty and administration.  The duties of Student Council include conducting elections, planning and sponsoring homecoming, and arranging a variety of other activities throughout the year.  Students are strongly urged to choose members who represent the finest of the Oakland High School student body.


The Student Council is composed of students who want to make a difference in the community for the students. Students become part of student council through an application process that includes a teacher recommendation. Student council members are required to attend all meetings and activities put on by student council. 
 

Being a member of the Student Council is a serious commitment.  Student Council members may be removed by the principal or sponsor with principal approval. Cause for dismissal may include violating school rules, academic ineligibility, or conduct detrimental to the student body or school.
